The Grace to You host returned home after more than a month in the hospital, according to an early February statement from Phil Johnson, an elder at Grace Community Church, where MacArthur serves as the head pastor. MacArthur was admitted to the hospital in December after he experienced complications from his July heart valve replacement. Johnson, who is also the executive director of MacArthur’s radio program, previously said doctors were continuing to run tests on MacArthur. Last month he revealed that the 85-year-old pastor had to start physical therapy because of his extended bed rest.
Is “recovering at home” a reference to hospice? Johnson clarified in a later post that MacArthur is not under palliative care but did not give more details on the pastor's status. When MacArthur’s hospitalization was first announced last month, a church leader described the pastor’s recovery as slower than expected, with setbacks affecting his heart and lungs.
