Jimmy Carter, age 100, casts 2024 election vote

Former President Jimmy Carter voted by mail on Wednesday, the Carter Center confirmed to WORLD in an emailed statement. The center gave no further details on the president’s vote, but it’s publicly believed he voted for Kamala Harris.

Is it just assumed he voted for Harris because they’re both Democrats? Comments made by Carter’s son, Chip, sparked the public belief that the former president intended to support Harris at the ballot box. The former president said he’s not trying to live to 100, he’s living to vote for Kamala Harris, Chip told the Associated Press earlier this year.

Carter’s grandson, Jason, made similar comments at the Democratic National Convention in August. Carter’s spirit is as strong as ever, and he can’t wait to vote for Kamala Harris, Jason told the crowd. The former president cast his last ballot via mail during the state’s general election primary in May, according to Georgia voting records. Carter is now the longest-lived U.S. president at 100 years old and has survived several health scares, including metastatic melanoma cancer that had spread to both his liver and his brain.
