James Dobson announces Trump endorsement

Evangelical heavyweight James Dobson officially endorsed Donald Trump for president this morning, less than 24 hours after the billionaire businessman accepted the Republican nomination. “I am supporting Mr. Trump primarily because I believe he is the most capable candidate to lead the United States of America in this complicated hour,” Dobson said in a statement. “I am also very enthusiastic by the selection of Gov. Mike Pence as Mr. Trump’s running mate. Together, I believe they will make America great again.” Dobson also pointed to Trump’s pledge to appoint a conservative Supreme Court justice as a reason for his support. Although Trump’s past behavior and statements have not been in line with his current positions, Dobson said he believed God could change “hearts and minds.”
