ISIS claims church bombing in Cairo
Islamic State (ISIS) today claimed responsibility for a suicide bombing at a Cairo church Sunday. The attack targeted Egypt’s Coptic Christian minority and killed 25 people. In a statement circulated online, ISIS said the bomber killed and injured 80 people. The group vowed “to continue war against apostates.” The Egyptian Interior Ministry said late Monday the attacker belonged to a terror cell founded by an Egyptian doctor and funded by Muslim Brotherhood, a now-outlawed Islamist group. Three men and a woman were arrested in connection with Sunday’s attack, and other suspects were on the run, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi said. The Muslim Brotherhood condemned the bombing.
