The Israel Defense Forces carried out an airstrike on the Sanaa International Airport in Yemen’s capital city, it said. The strike shut down the airport, keeping Houthi terrorists from using it to move personnel and weapons, the IDF said. Israel’s military characterized the strike as payback for a Houthi attack Sunday on its own Ben Gurion International Airport.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday vowed retribution for the Ben Gurion attack. He also promised to go after Iran in the future for backing the Houthis.
What other locations did the IDF target? Israel’s military also hit several power plants around the capital city of Sanaa. It said the Houthis used the power plants for energy infrastructure and for building underground tunnels. The IDF on Monday also claimed to strike several targets along the coast of Yemen, including a port.
The state-run Yemen Press Agency said strikes also hit the Amran Cement Factory and accused the United States of directly participating in the bombing.
How did the Houthis respond to the strikes? A leader of the terrorist group, Nasr al-Din Amer, said the Houthis would strike back soon. He said his organization wouldn’t cease hostilities in air and sea until Israel ended its war with Hamas, according to the Yemen Press Agency.
