Hunter Biden to appear before House committees for deposition

The House Oversight Committee issued a statement on Thursday saying that President Joe Biden’s son, Hunter, would appear before it and the House Judiciary Committee for a deposition next month. The Oversight Committee said the deposition, scheduled for Feb. 28, would come after testimony by other Biden family members and associates.

Is Hunter still going to be held in contempt? Republicans had prepared to advance a contempt resolution against Hunter Biden after he failed to obey a subpoena to appear for closed-door testimony. Hunter Biden instead held a press conference elsewhere on Capitol Hill at the time of the deposition, where he delivered prepared remarks. Republicans paused the effort to hold him in contempt of Congress earlier this week to provide time for negotiations to secure his testimony.
