Hunter Biden prosecutor cleared to testify before Congress

The Department of Justice on Monday offered to make U.S. Attorney David Weiss of Delaware available to speak to the House Judiciary Committee. The Republican-led committee is investigating claims by two IRS agents that the DOJ interfered with Weiss’ probe into Hunter Biden’s financial dealings. Assistant Attorney General Carlos Uriarte wrote that Weiss is available to testify after the Congressional recess next month. House Republicans last month requested Weiss and other officials to come in for transcribed interviews as part of the committee’s investigation.

Why can’t Weiss testify before the recess? The DOJ prohibited Weiss from speaking to the committee while the case regarding Biden was ongoing. Biden last month accepted a deal to end the probe. He is expected to appear before a judge on Wednesday to plead guilty to federal tax offenses.
