House Oversight Committee chairman invites Biden to testify

Chairman James Comer, R-Ky., on Thursday invited U.S. President Joe Biden to provide testimony before Congress, according to an Oversight Committee letter. Comer had signaled he would do so just before concluding a hearing earlier this month related to House Republicans’ impeachment inquiry of Biden.

What’s the impeachment inquiry about? House Republicans allege Biden participated in an “influence peddling” scheme that helped advance his family members’ business ventures. The White House and Biden himself have contested those accusations, saying the president had no inappropriate connections to his family members’ business dealings.
