House Intelligence Committee chairman discloses meeting about security threat

Chairman Mike Turner, R-Ohio, on Wednesday demanded the White House declassify information on an unnamed “serious national security threat.” On Wednesday, The House Intelligence Committee notified members of Congress about the existence of a “destabilizing foreign military capability.”

What does this mean? Neither Turner nor the House Intelligence Committee provided details about the nature of the issue. House Speaker Mike Johnson said there was “no need for public alarm.” White House National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan said he would brief Turner and other members of the Congressional “Gang of Eight” who receive intelligence briefings about the issue on Thursday.
