House committee votes to release Trump’s tax returns
The House Ways and Means Committee voted on Tuesday to release redacted versions of former President Donald Trump’s tax returns. Trump paid about $1.8 million in taxes from 2015 to 2020, according to the committee. The documents will be released once they’re scrubbed of addresses and social security numbers.
What have Republicans said? The Democrat-controlled committee voted along party lines, and some Republicans said the move was politically motivated. Rep. Kevin Brady, R-Texas, said the vote threatens privacy protections. During his presidency, Trump refused to release his tax returns, saying they were being audited.
