Former South Carolina governor announces presidential bid

Nikki Haley, former ambassador to the United Nations and former South Carolina governor, said Tuesday she will run for president in 2024. Haley is the second major Republican candidate to launch a 2024 campaign. Former President Donald Trump announced his intention to run late last year. Corey Stapleton, Montana’s former Republican secretary of state, announced he is running for president in 2024 but has not yet started his campaign.

Who else is thinking about running? President Joe Biden is expected to announce his re-election campaign soon. Former Georgia gubernatorial Democrat candidate Stacey Abrams could possibly announce she is running. Former Vice President Mike Pence might also decide to run for the Republican nomination. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, widely considered Trump’s top competition for the Republican nomination, answered whether he was running for president with the words: “Wouldn’t you like to know?”
