Haitian president assassinated

A group of unknown gunmen targeted Haitian President Jovenel Moïse at his private residence late on Tuesday. The 53-year-old leader died in the attack. His wife, first lady Martine Moïse, is currently hospitalized, said interim Premier Claude Joseph.

Any details on the attack? Joseph said the National Police and other authorities are in control of the situation. Haiti was already embroiled in a political crisis over Moïse’s political term as well as economic unrest and a rise in gang violence.
