Grand jury indicts Trump
A lawyer for Donald Trump confirmed on Thursday that he will become the first former president of the United States to face criminal charges. Now that a Manhattan grand jury has voted to indict him, he is expected to surrender to authorities sometime next week.
What was he indicted for? The actual charges against him have not been announced. The grand jury was investigating allegations that Trump made hush money payments in 2016 to silence reports accusing him of extramarital affairs. Trump denies any wrongdoing. Late last year, he announced his campaign to run for president again in 2024.
