Girl shot at Minneapolis Catholic church recovering, family says

Sophia Forchas, who was shot in the head during an attack on Annunciation Catholic Church in Minneapolis, was showing signs of neurological recovery on Monday, according to family members. She would soon leave acute care for an inpatient rehabilitation program, her family said. The 12-year-old girl has been hospitalized for weeks following the Aug. 27 shooting, in which a man killed two children and wounded 18 victims.

Forchas was initially in critical condition and near death, according to a family statement. But this week, her doctors were cautiously optimistic, according to her family. Forchas faced a long road of rehabilitation and recovery, they said. But her progress showed that prayer was effective, they said.
