George Santos steps down from House committees

Rep. George Santos stepped down on Tuesday from his two House committee assignments. The move comes amid multiple investigations into his campaign finances and other issues. The Long Island Republican still faces calls for his complete resignation from Congress.

What exactly did Santos do? He has admitted to lying about his ethnicity and work experience. He claimed to have graduated from the prestigious Baruch College in New York City, but never actually graduated from any institution of higher learning. He also claimed to hold prestigious Wall Street jobs at firms where he was never on the payroll. He even erroneously claimed he is Jewish and had ancestors that escaped oppression in Europe.
