First lady tests positive for COVID-19
Jill Biden, 71, started experiencing mild symptoms of COVID-19 on Monday, the White House announced Tuesday. She and President Joe Biden are vacationing in South Carolina, and she will isolate there for at least five days. She has been vaccinated twice and received two booster shots of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine. She has also been prescribed Paxlovid, an antiviral drug that has been shown to reduce hospitalization and death rates from the coronavirus.
How is President Biden doing? After first testing positive in July and isolating until he tested negative, the president recovered from a rebound case on Aug. 7. He again tested negative for the virus Tuesday, and returned to the White House on Tuesday to sign the Inflation Reduction Act. He will wear a mask indoors and when in close proximity to others for 10 days, per guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
