Fetterman leads by a point in Senate race in Pennsylvania

The website FiveThirtyEight.com had Democrat John Fetterman beating Republican Mehmet Oz by 1.1 percent in a poll as of Tuesday. The two are competing for the U.S. Senate seat held by retiring Republican Pat Toomey. The margin separating the candidates has narrowed significantly since mid-August, when Fetterman led Oz by about 12 points. Before the two met in a recent debate, large sections of voters seemed to think Fetterman was healthy enough for the job of senator even after he suffered a stroke in May. After the debate, many now think he is not healthy enough for the job.

What does this mean for Election Day? Either party seems to have a chance to swing the state on Nov. 8. Fetterman has consistently held the top spot in the polls. Oz has won support from former President Donald Trump, while Fetterman has garnered the endorsement of President Joe Biden.
