FBI searches Manafort’s house amid Russia probe
WASHINGTON—FBI officials searched former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort’s home Wednesday as part of the Justice Department’s investigation into Russian election meddling and possible ties to the president. “Mr. Manafort has consistently cooperated with law enforcement and other serious inquiries and did so on this occasion as well," Jason Maloni, a spokesman for Manafort, told CNN. Last month, Manafort registered as a foreign agent for Ukraine. He left the Trump campaign in August 2016 after questions arose about his foreign business ties. Manafort is one of several people connected to the Trump campaign under investigation by Special Counsel Robert Mueller and his team at the Justice Department. The ex-campaign chairman met privately with Senate Intelligence Committee investigators last month and produced about 400 pages of documents for them to review. Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, initially scheduled a public hearing for Manafort and Donald Trump Jr. to testify before Congress but postponed it while the Senate reviewed Manafort’s documents. Grassley recently said he’s interested in rescheduling the hearing for September.
