Elon Musk holding daily million-dollar sweepstakes for swing-state voters

The billionaire’s America PAC planned to give a $1 million prize to a registered voter in a swing state every day until the Nov. 5 election, according to a Sunday post by Musk. Any swing state resident would become eligible by signing a petition expressing support for the First and Second Amendments of the U.S. Constitution. Signers don’t even need to vote, they just need to support something they already believe in, Musk added. America PAC handed out its first two checks over the weekend in Pittsburgh and Harrisburg, Pa. Only registered voters in Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin are eligible to receive the $1 million prize, according to America PAC.

What exactly does the petition say? The petition reaffirms the First and Second Amendments to the U.S. Constitutional guaranteeing the right to freedom of expression and the right to bear arms. Petitioners only affirm the first two amendments, not the entire constitution.

Pennsylvania's Democratic Gov. Josh Shapiro said Musk’s million-dollar sweepstakes concerned him. Musk has every right to support his views, but serious questions are raised when one starts injecting this much money into politics, he said on NBC’s Meet the Press. The dark money is flowing into the pockets of Pennsylvanians and officials should look into it, he added.
