CPAC returns to D.C. after a two-year pandemic absence

The Conservative Political Action Conference began on Wednesday in Washington, D.C. The event will last through Saturday, and it bills itself as the “largest and most influential gathering of conservatives in the world.” During the conference, Congress members, conservative leaders, and presidential candidates will deliver speeches and face the judgment of straw polls conducted at the conference.

Are there any noteworthy features this year? This year’s CPAC features notable absences in former Vice President Mike Pence and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis. Other absentees include Republican National Committee Chair Ronna McDaniel and Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin.
