Democratic Sen. Rosen of Nevada narrowly keeps her seat

Incumbent Democratic Sen. Jacky Rosen will keep her seat representing Nevada in the upper chamber with a slim victory. Associated Press called the race Saturday, saying the senator won 47.9% of the vote while challenging Republican candidate Sam Brown claiming 46.3%, with little more than a a one-point margin. Rosen thanked voters Saturday on social media, sharing her pride and gratitude. She represented Nevada in the U.S. House of Representatives for two years before her election to the Senate in 2018. The Democratic win will not affect the GOP’s majority in the Senate.

Who is Rosen? Endorsed by the Planned Parenthood Action Fund, she supported enshrining abortion in federal law. The senator-elect worked as a computer programmer before her election to the U.S. House in 2016. She listed growing the economy as her top priority, aiming to reduce cost burdens on middle-class families and level the playing field for workers and small businesses, according to her issue statement. Rosen also prioritized caring for veterans and expanding access to healthcare.
