Democratic delegates plan to nominate Biden
Democratic delegates on Wednesday were pushing ahead with a plan to formally pick President Joe Biden as the party’s nominee for the 2024 presidential election, according to the Associated Press. Meanwhile, Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., has called for Biden to withdraw from the race. He’s the latest voice in a growing chorus of Democrats calling for Biden to step aside after repeated public speaking gaffes and a poor debate performance.
How much support does Biden have among party voters? Roughly 65 percent of Democratic voters say President Biden should withdraw from the race, according to an AP-NORC poll released Wednesday. Only 35 percent of Democratic voters support his continued candidacy. The survey was largely completed before 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks attempted to assassinate former President Donald Trump.
