Date set for election redo in Kenya

Kenya’s electoral commission announced Monday that a redo of the presidential election will take place on Oct. 17. The country’s Supreme Court last week nullified the results of the Aug. 8 election won by President Uhuru Kenyatta, saying the commission committed irregularities in counting the votes. Kenyatta criticized the court’s decision, calling the judges “crooks,” but said he would win again in the second election. Opposition leader Raila Odinga called for the electoral commission to be dissolved.
