Data stolen from 1 billion-plus Yahoo accounts
Yahoo reports that hackers may have stolen data from more than 1 billion user accounts in August 2013, in what could be the largest data breach at an email provider. The stolen information may include names, email addresses, phone numbers, birthdates, and security questions and answers. Yahoo believes that bank-account information and payment-card data were not affected but hackers may have stolen user passwords, causing problems for those who use their Yahoo password for other online accounts. The Sunnyvale, Calif., company reported another security breach in September involving 500 million Yahoo accounts, in what is now regarded as the second largest hack history.
