The Washington Surgi-Clinic, a late-term abortion facility in Washington, D.C., recently stopped performing abortions due to an expired license. The facility’s license lapsed because it failed to apply for renewal before the expiration date, DC Health told WORLD in a Monday email. The department licenses all ambulatory surgical centers in the District of Columbia.
The facility did not mention its halted abortions or expired license on its website on Wednesday. It offered abortions up through 27 weeks of pregnancy, according to its website. A facility receptionist said the Washington Surgi-Clinic hoped to resume abortions in late September, according to a news release from pro-life activist group Survivors of the Abortion Holocaust.
The news came just over two weeks after Survivors of the Abortion Holocaust filed a 14-page complaint against the facility’s owner with the D.C. Board of Medicine. The group said that the abortionist who owns and operates the clinic had been subjected to a medical malpractice claim for the death of a woman he treated for a miscarriage, and had been disciplined for not meeting continuing education requirements.
