Commerce secretary questions future of China investments
Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo finished her four-day tour of China on Wednesday. Raimondo said some Americans see Chinese investments as becoming too risky because of fines, raids, and erratic government policy. She said if officials don’t fix the instability, U.S. businesses will deem the country “un-investable.”
What did China say about investor relations? Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin responded to Raimondo’s comments during a Wednesday news conference, calling for the two countries to continue engaging in “mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and win-win cooperation.” Raimondo’s visit comes just weeks after President Joe Biden notably excluded China from his historic Camp David summit with South Korea and Japan.
