Candidates make final push on eve of election
Republicans are feeling confident going into Tuesday’s midterm elections. An average of polls compiled by RealClearPolitics shows the GOP has a 2.5-point advantage over Democrats in congressional races overall. Florida Sen. Rick Scott predicted a red wave as he rallied Sunday with former President Donald Trump. Trump urged voters to choose Republicans in order “to stop the destruction of our country and save the American dreаm.” President Joe Biden stumped in New York for Gov. Kathy Hochul. He warned that a GOP win would put U.S. democracy at risk.
What are the races to watch? Heading into Election Day, control of the Senate balances on a knife’s edge. No race is closer than the contest in Pennsylvania, where Republican Mehmet Oz is trying to ride a late surge of momentum to Capitol Hill. His opponent John Fetterman, like many Democrats this election cycle, is campaigning on the promise to increase the availability of abortion. An average of recent polls has that race tied, but the three most current polls give Oz a 2- to 3-point edge.
