Canada lifts COVID-19 border requirements
The Canadian government announced Monday it will remove all pandemic measures for international travelers starting Oct. 1. Travelers will not be required to quarantine, provide proof of vaccination, or report symptoms of COVID-19. The country is also removing the requirement to wear a mask on trains and planes. Passengers will no longer have to undergo health checks. The government pointed to high vaccination rates and having passed the peak of the omicron BA.4 and BA.5 wave as reasons for its decision.
What should travelers do if they get sick in Canada? The government said they should still report their symptoms to an official or flight attendant. A quarantine officer will then decide whether that person needs to isolate.
