Biden urges unity at National Prayer Breakfast
Keeping with a 70-year tradition, President Joe Biden spoke on Capitol Hill at the annual National Prayer Breakfast on Thursday morning. The president said he prays for the healing of the bitter political divide in the United States. “It’s hard to really dislike someone when you know what they’re going through [is] the same thing you’re going through,” he said. “Rather than driving us apart, faith can move us together.”
Who attended the breakfast? The president’s remarks followed keynote speaker Bryan Stevenson, the founder of the Equal Justice Initiative. Vice President Kamala Harris also spoke. Lawmakers from both sides of the aisle and guests from across the country and around the world attended. Lawmakers also prayed for Sen. Ben Ray Luján, D-N.M., who is recovering from a stroke and brain surgery.
