Biden signs bills providing more aid to Ukraine, Israel
President Joe Biden on Wednesday signed a package of bills giving more aid to Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan alongside a bill outlining a path to ban the TikTok social media app. The bills, in total, provide roughly $61 billion in military aid to Ukraine, roughly $26 billion to Israel, and roughly $8 billion to U.S. partners in the Indo-Pacific region.
What’s the deal with the TikTok bill? The bill would ban the app if its parent company, ByteDance, does not divest of it within a year. The bill comes amid concerns that the app has become a vessel for China to spy on Americans’ sensitive data.
