Biden in London for queen’s funeral
World leaders have gathered in London to pay final respects to the late Queen Elizabeth II. She died Sept. 8 at age 96. Some 2,000 guests are attending her funeral Monday at Westminster Abbey, including President Joe Biden. On Sunday, Biden signed the official condolence book and attended a reception at Buckingham Palace hosted by King Charles III.
What are the details of the funeral? It begins at 11 a.m. local time (6 a.m. Eastern). Five hundred world leaders and royals are invited. It is the first state funeral in the United Kingdom since Winston Churchill’s death in 1965. The country declared Monday a holiday, with many schools and businesses closing for the day.
