At least three sheriff’s deputies died in an incident at a training facility in Los Angeles, U.S. Attorney General Pamela Bondi said on Friday. An explosion reportedly occurred at the county sheriff’s Special Operations Bureau in east Los Angeles, according to California Gov. Gavin Newsom’s press office.
Officials from the FBI, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and California emergency services were on the scene, according to Bondi and Newsom’s office. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department had not yet confirmed the news of the deaths by early afternoon on Friday, but Bondi said she had spoken with Sheriff Robert Luna.
What else do we know about the incident? The situation was reported around 7:30 a.m. on Friday, according to KABC Los Angeles. The training facility appeared to be the one housing the sheriff's department's special enforcement units and bomb squad, according to the outlet.
