Russian air strikes kill 12

Russian missile strikes Thursday killed at least 12 Ukrainian people across the country. Ukrainian officials said Moscow launched two dozen attack drones and more than 50 missiles at energy facilities. Kyiv reported that all the drones and the majority of the missiles were intercepted by Ukrainian air defense. A number of power stations were damaged in the attack.

What prompted the attack? The missile launches come one day after the U.S. and Germany promised to send battle tanks to Ukraine. Several other countries have pledged to send additional tanks to Ukraine after petitioning Germany to greenlight the move.
