At least four die as boat sinks in English Channel
The small boat carrying migrants capsized Wednesday while traveling from France to England. Authorities managed to rescue more than 40 people, but they’re unsure whether any other people were still missing. The British government has tried to stop smugglers who transport migrants from France to Britain for thousands of dollars per head. Britain has even threatened to deport those who immigrate illegally to Rwanda. Late last year, 27 people died when their vessel sank trying to cross the Channel.
Yikes. Do you have any better news about Atlantic seafarers? On Tuesday, a tanker ship roughly 200 miles off the coast of Delaware noticed two men waving their arms from a sailboat. The two men, accompanied by a dog, had been missing for 10 days, but the tanker’s medical personnel found no immediate concerns with their health. The U.S. Coast Guard had been notified and had begun searching for the duo before they were found. The men and the dog were expected to remain aboard the tanker until it docked in New York, where they would be reunited with their families.
