Asa Hutchinson drops out of race for the White House

Former Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson on Tuesday said he was suspending his 2024 presidential campaign. The night before, he finished sixth among Republican candidates in the Iowa caucuses. Hutchinson finished behind evangelical candidate Ryan Binkley, who failed to qualify for any Republican presidential debates.

How did the caucuses go for the other candidates? Former President Donald Trump collected an almost instantaneous victory over Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley. Businessman Vivek Ramaswamy withdrew from the race on Monday night and threw his endorsement behind Trump. Before the caucuses, Ramaswamy had promised a “shock to the system.” He failed to secure even 8 percent of voters’ support.
