Polls closed in Arizona Tuesday night and the preliminary results showed landslide wins for GOP candidates endorsed by President Donald Trump. Andy Biggs secured his spot as the Republican gubernatorial nominee, with the Associated Press calling the race for Biggs Tuesday night. House GOP candidates former Sheriff Mark Lamb and former NFL kicker Jay Feely won their respective races, alongside Rep. Eli Crane, who was uncontested, according to the Associated Press. For the House Democratic nominations, Rep. Amish Shah was ahead of former news anchor and the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee-endorsed candidate, Marlene Galán-Woods, as of Tuesday evening.

As the ballot count continued Tuesday evening, the remaining races were expected to be called within the coming hours and days.

Original story:

Arizonans head to the polls Tuesday to vote in statewide primary elections including three battleground races. The state’s 1st and 6th Congressional Districts anticipate a competitive general election, and two Republican gubernatorial candidates are vying for nomination in a bid to replace incumbent Democratic Gov. Katie Hobbs.

Who is on the ballot? United States Representatives Andy Biggs and Rep. David Schweikert are racing for the Republican gubernatorial nomination. Biggs, who received the endorsement of President Donald Trump and Turning Point USA, is leading in most polls and running a platform focused on affordability, election integrity, the MAHA agenda and more. Schweikert’s campaign emphasizes strengthening the economy, reforming state government, cutting taxes, and fighting illegal immigration. For the Democratic nomination, incumbent Katie Hobbs runs unopposed.

Schweikert’s departure from Congress leaves Arizona's 1st Congressional District, widely viewed as a toss-up, available for competition. For the Republican nomination, Rep. Joseph Chaplik, and telecommunications executive John Trobough are up against Trump-endorsed former NFL kicker Jay Feely. Former state Rep. Amish Shah and former news anchor and the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee endorsed Marlene Galán-Woods battle for the Democratic nomination.

In the 6th Congressional District, Trump-endorsed incumbent GOP Rep. Juan Ciscomani and Marine Corps veteran JoAnna Mendoza run unopposed in their parties’ primaries ahead of what’s expected to be a competitive House race.

In Arizona's Democratic-leaning 7th, 3rd and 4th Districts, incumbents Adelita Grijalva and Yassamin Ansari are poised to keep the seats blue, and incumbent Greg Stanton is challenged by activist Kai Newkirk. In the traditionally red seats of the 2nd, 5th, 8th, and 9th Districts, Trump has endorsed Rep. Eli Crane, former Sheriff Mark Lamb, Rep. Abraham Hamadeh, and Rep. Paul Gosar.
