Accused military leaker received multiple warnings

A Massachusetts judge should decide Friday whether Air National Guard member Jack Teixeira must remain behind bars while awaiting trial. Prosecutors accused 21-year-old Teixeira of leaking classified documents on the Ukraine war and other countries on Discord, a social media platform. Court documents released Wednesday say Teixeira’s superiors repeatedly warned him about writing down classified information and viewing documents outside of his responsibilities.

Has Teixeira said anything? He has not entered a plea, but according to the court documents, Teixeira acknowledged on social media that he should not have shared the information. He told Discord users the information was not public, but he didn’t care what his superiors said. Teixeira’s lawyers said he did not expect the information he shared to be spread over the internet.
