Abortion amendments pass in states

Abortion amendments pass in states

Voters in California, Vermont, and Michigan passed pro-abortion amendments Tuesday. Those states will now enshrine the right to have an abortion in their constitutions. Kentucky voted against a pro-life amendment that would have said that the state does not protect abortion.  Ballots were still being counted in Montana on an abortion-related amendment.

What would this mean for the states? Kentucky already protects babies in every case except to save the life or health of the mother, but the state Supreme Court is hearing a case to remove that law. This amendment would have taken away the case's standing, but now it’s up to the court to decide. Montana’s amendment would require medical care to be provided to babies born alive, including after an abortion attempt.
