Nine Palestinians killed in shootout with Israeli forces

The Israeli Defense Force said its troops entered the Jenin refugee camp on the West Bank on Thursday to capture three suspected Islamic extremists. It said two suspects were killed in the raid, and the remaining suspect was taken into custody. Israel said Palestinian militants opened fire on its soldiers, prompting return fire. Nine Palestinians died and 20 were wounded.

How has Palestine responded to the firefight? The Palestinian Authority also plans to file complaints with the U.N. Security Council and the International Criminal Court. After the raid, protesters took to the streets in the West Bank to protest the violence.
