11-year-old boy killed in “sickening” Cincinnati drive-by shooting

Police and government officials in Cincinnati expressed outrage on Sunday, two days after they say a drive-by shooter opened fire on a crowd of children, killing an 11-year-old boy and injuring four other children and one adult. Police identified the 11-year-old as Dominic Davis, who was pronounced dead at the scene. The five other victims were taken to nearby hospitals. As of Monday, four had been released and one remained hospitalized. Cincinnati Mayor Aftab Pureval called the shooting “sickening and unimaginable.”

How did it happen? Authorities said an occupant in a dark-colored sedan fired 22 rounds into the crowd of children near a park and elementary school. At this time, police have not located the shooter, and the investigation is ongoing. It is unknown if the shooting was random or targeted. On Sunday, Cincinnati Police Chief Teresa Theetge issued a public demand for any individuals who were responsible for the shootings to turn themselves in or face apprehension by the police.
