NICK EICHER, HOST: Google is moving from debugging software to debugging the great American outdoors.

The company’s new project would release sterile male mosquitoes into parts of California and Florida, in an effort to reduce populations that spread disease.

So what do we call these? Google-skeetos, or maybe just go with G-Males, spelling it G-M-A-L-E.

So researchers say the G-Males will compete with normal male mosquitoes for mates, and gradually shrink the population.

To carry it out will require 32 million G-Males—and here's hoping they don’t get caught in spam filters.

It's The World and Everything in It!
