WORLD Radio - Kicker: Where’s the beef?

NICK EICHER, HOST: If you’re old enough to remember the 80s, you no doubt remember Clara Peller. Or at least you’ll remember the line that made her famous in a series of Wendy’s commercials.

AUDIO: Where’s the beef?

Well, there is no beef in McDonald’s newest burger. It’s called the PLT—plant, lettuce, and tomato.

Mickey Dees is only testing the meatless burger right now in Canada. But it appears to be a growing trend, and the makers of meat substitutes are duking it out to get their imitation meat into restaurants.

Six months ago, Burger King started testing the “Impossible Burger.”

COMMERCIAL: 100 percent Whopper, and 0 percent beef. We know it’s impossible to believe.

Other chains including Carl’s Jr., Del Taco, Little Caesars, and KFC are now testing meat substitutes.

This should make the Chick-Fil-A cows AND chickens everywhere very happy!
