NICK EICHER, HOST: Kids are pretty tech-savvy, but give parents credit. Some of them are catching up.
Consider the case of a 6-year-old girl named Caitlin.
She’s computer-savvy enough that her mom let her order a Barbie doll on Amazon.
So she did, no problem. Even opted for next-day shipping.
But on that next day, Caitlin’s mom noticed boxes started stacking up in her driveway, and thought, something’s up.
You’ve probably figured it out by now. Caitlin didn’t order just the doll. She’d ordered other toys, too. And videos. And board games. Total tab: about $350.
A picture of Caitlyn went viral on the internet. It showed a very happy, smiling little girl standing next to the goodies from her shopping spree.
But the smile didn’t last long. Mom and Dad sent back the merchandise, everything but the Barbie doll.
In case you’re wondering: Mom says the days of unsupervised online shopping are over.
It’s The World and Everything in It.
