WORLD Radio - Kicker: Stranded camel

NICK EICHER, HOST: An early-season snowstorm in Pennsylvania last week hit motorists and other creatures really hard.

Travelers along a highway about 40 miles north of Philadelphia could hardly believe what they were seeing. Some took phone videos to counter their disbelief.

AUDIO: There’s a camel on 309! Aaaaahhhhh!

Yes, a real camel on 309.  Temporarily stranded along a snowy roadway.

An organization called Jewish Philly claimed ownership of the camel. His name is Einstein.

He was on his way to an event in Philadelphia when his transport got stuck in the snow. To help get unstuck, the driver took Einstein off the vehicle to make it lighter.

That worked, but handlers decided to turn back and return the camel to his home. And so now Einstein is safe and sound back at Peaceable Kingdom Petting Zoo.

It’s The World and Everything in It.
