WORLD Radio - Kicker: Sofa, so fast

Two men in Charlotte took their couch for a spin—balanced across a pair of electric scooters. Police appreciated the attempt at convenience without leaving the comforts of home, but they had a few small legal concerns.

NICK EICHER, HOST: Police in Charlotte, North Carolina, pulled over two men for a rather unusual traffic violation.

They were riding down the street on a loveseat.

Not a pickup truck. Not a trailer.

They had balanced the sofa between two side-by-side electric scooters. And off they went.

Charlotte police said they appreciated the creativity, but reminded the men that safety comes first—no matter what you're driving.

And the officers used the word “driving” rather loosely.

No word on where the men were headed.

But apparently, they wanted to get there without leaving the comfort of their own living room.

File it under, seemed like a good idea at the time.

It’s The World and Everything in It.
