NICK EICHER, HOST: An unusual job listing at a zoo in England: a team of people who are friendly, energetic, and flexible. Very energetic and flexible as it turns out. The job title? “Seagull Deterrent.”
You see, the city of Blackpool is a sea-side resort. Seagulls have become quite a nuisance as they attempt to steal food from dining visitors and even the animals on exhibit.
So even though the zoo assures job applicants that they love all animals, they need to do something about the cheeky thieving birds. The Seagull Deterrents will be given all the necessary tools for the job…including donning a costume that looks like a big plastic bird of prey.
MARY REICHARD, HOST: Cacaw! Cacaw! Cacaw!
EICHER: Mary, you’ve already got a job.
