Kicker: Pink water

NICK EICHER, HOST: People living in Coal Grove, Ohio, turned on their faucets recently. Nothing odd about that, except what came out didn’t look much like clean water.

It looked more like Pepto Bismol.

The water was hot pink.

Now town officials warned the discolored water might damage clothes. BUT they said the water was okay to drink!

Turns out, a bunch of sodium permanganate got into the water supply because of a malfunction at the water treatment plant.

Plant operator Stephen Burchett told WBAZ television: not to worry!

BURCHETT: Once it’s not diluted out, it’s not dangerous at all.

The water will gradually return to clear. But until then, hold off on doing a load of laundry.
