Kicker: Perfect turnout

NICK EICHER, HOST: Residents of Ruso, North Dakota just re-elected 86-year old Bruce Lorenz to another term as mayor.

That’s not too surprising— he’s held the post for three decades.

What’s unusual for mayor elections is that Lorenz won unanimously with 100-percent turnout.

Now, we should note: If even a single voter fails to show up, turnout gets chopped to 67 percent. So, if you’re quick with math, that’ll tell you the city has three voters.

Making it the smallest incorporated city in a state known for tiny towns.

Lorenz is a retired rural mail carrier and believed to be the state’s oldest mayor. And he lives at Number 1 Flower Street. There is no number 2.
