NICK EICHER, HOST: Authorities in a small Slovakian town have arrested a woman on a rather unusual charge.
Every day for 16 years, from sunrise to sunset, she blared an opera on her stereo system. It was loud enough for all her neighbors to hear.
The woman—identified only as Eva—had been playing a looped four-minute segment of Verdi’s La Traviata, featuring Plácido Domingo.
Neighbors claimed she began playing it in order to drown out the sound of a barking dog.
One neighbor told the Hungarian news outlet Parameter: “I like Plácido Domingo, but not like this.”
After she refused a court order to stop the music, police arrested her and now — wait for it — she’ll face the music.
