WORLD Radio - Kicker: Monkey mischief

NICK EICHER, HOST: A gang of thieves terrorized a local shop owner in China. They broke into her store. They stole food. They trashed the place.

This gang is indiscriminate. It’s terrorizing even children, stealing food from them as they walk to school.

Now, it may surprise you to find out that this big, menacing gang isn’t all that big. The tallest one stands less than 3 feet tall, when he stands at all.

Maybe by now you’ve guessed it. A band of three monkeys is responsible for all the mischief.

The shop owner said the largest of the three was especially brazen. He broke in repeatedly, sometimes even taking naps in the store. Listen here to the owner trying unsuccessfully to catch the trouble-maker.

She also tried to chase him out of the store with brooms, but that didn’t work, either.

Eventually, she called the police. They were able to catch the rambunctious primate, and relocate him to a local zoo.

The others remain at large.

It’s The World and Everything in It.
